good morning! dear teachers! first, thank you for giving me this opportunity for an interview. isquo;d like to briefly introduce myself. my name is liao chunlan, born in chongqing, will soon graduate from sichuan international studies university, bachelor of arts (文学学士), mastersquo;s degree. i have been teaching english while isquo;ve been studying for postgraduate courses. because my major is english language and literature, importantly, my research orientation is theories and practice of english language teaching. the teaching experience is very helpful for my study and my job. i have taught oral english in the international exchange department in sichuan international studies university. and i have taught business english in english department of this university. well, i also have the great honor to teach college english in chongqing education college. to be a teacher is my dream, to be a great teacher is my goal. in my spare time, i like reading, watching movies, surfing the internet, doing sports, and travelling.
strengths: highly-motivated and determined
i donsquo;t know whether you have watched a film named the pursuit of happiness. it is a very touching movie acted by will smith. i love this movie very much. because i find myself in this movie and i got a lesson from it. in this movie, the main character never lost hope and was devoted to his job and family, being passionate about life and future, and being calm while facing adversities. i can still remember what the father said to his son. you got a dream, you gonna protect it. i am like him, full of motivation and determination, being strong and calm while facing difficulties.
weaknesses: im afraid i havent got a very good sense of directions, so i easily get lost. but i like to ask people and find the way from other means, for example, search the internet on my mobile phone, and turn to the directions at bus stops. another one is that i tend to have too high expectations on people, especially people who i care. once my sister and friends told me that i expected them too highly which put too much pressure on them. this is true with regard to my students. anyway, i am trying to find the balance between ideals/ hopes and reality.

so, now graduates, itsquo;s certainly your day, but president price already reminded us itsquo;s mothersquo;s day – but you know women never get enough love, never. so the one day we have here to offer a deserved salute to those who bore us biologically and those who stood in as surrogates for many of our needs and wants – deserve some more love. i want all the graduates to stand up and give their mothers and their surrogate mothers some love. thank you.
now this is my first mothersquo;s day without my own mother, who i lost last august.
and while shesquo;s not here physically, i can still hear her voice when i reach a significant milestone or face what appears to be an insurmountable obstacle.
and if she were here today, i know exactly what she would say to you.
in response to your achievement, it would, no doubt, be crisp and compelling a show of support: you did it! and she would offer you a huge smile and an even bigger hug.
but she would also keep it real with you like she always did with me. she would tell you that your future, like any of ours, is going to be hard work. i can hear her say: lisa, listen to me and hear me clearly. adversity is like the agitator in the washing machine. it beats the heck out of the clothes, but theysquo;re clean when they come out.

所谓“天下兴亡，匹夫有责”，无论将来我们是从商从政还是从文，都应该关注家事国事和天下事，努力成为公共知识分子。一个有担当的文化人，应该认真观察和分析民众生活以及社会现象，给出具有可行性的建议，并在可能的情况下，积极参与到改善民生和改造社会的实践中去。这样，就能把经验上升为理论，把理论转化成实践，把个体融入到群体，做到“知行合一”，促进个人的进步和社会的发展。
